Day 250--Now You See Me...

My Halloween costume for this year--the Invisible Man. I was VERY excited to be able to get the welding goggles for this outfit. Do I weld? Nope. But I was going to be authentic, so there.

Day 249--Two Lost Souls Swimming in a Fish Bowl

Kathy on the left, Vince on the right. I think Kathy is holding Sergei, and Vince is holding Jack Bauer.

Please don't think I'm implying anything bad about these two. I just wanted to quote the Pink Floyd lyric. Speaking of Floyd, this shot is, pretty much, a total rip-off of something Storm Thorgerson did for a CD single of 'Wish You Were Here.' I liked it enough to do it on my own.

Day 248--Playing to His Strengths

George naps well, so why should I stop him from doing what he loves?

Day 247--Berry From Outer Space

It took a little over an hour for me to disassemble three pomegranates and juice them. It cost $7.50 for them, and I got about 2 cups of juice for my efforts.

Was it worth it?

Absolutely.

Day 246--Hang Time

I was driving around somewhere a couple nights ago when this idea hit me, so I had to scramble for a piece of paper and a pen to write it down, lest I forget about it. And I think it turned our pretty well.

I realized after about 4 shots that I didn't have to wait out of frame and try to time my jump with the timer. I could actually just stand over the camera and then leap. Who knew?

And, if you were wondering, there were many hard landings. I took about a dozen shots, and almost every one was rough. But it was worth the physical suffering!

Day 245--Spectrum #7: Violet

Almost walked right past these little guys. I really like the perspective on this one.

Dave

Day 244--Spectrum #6: Indigo

I can see why indigo got dropped from the 'official' spectrum (or so I remember hearing): it's so darn close to blue and purple that it's hard to distinguish. I don't know if this is technically indigo, but it's the best I could find. I suppose having something blue right next to it helps distinguish it.

Dave

Day 243--Spectrum #5: Blue

Pretty convenient having a blue water bottle near you at all times, really.

Day 242--Spectrum #4: Green

The glare from the overhead lights is, I think, a little distracting, but what are you gonna do?

(it's a chair, if you're curious)

Dave

Day 241--Spectrum #3: Yellow

I'm pleased to offer in this picture, at no extra charge to you, the viewer, bonus yellow items that were not originally planned on being part of the image, but managed to sneak in there anyways.

Also of interest is that I had to add some more yellow to the image because it had a general blueness to it. How nice!

Day 240--Spectrum #2: Orange

I've never had pumpkin beer, probably because I'm just not a big fan of pumpkins in general. So the excitement every fall is lost on me. Oh well.

Dave

Day 239--Spectrum #1: Red

It's pretty convenient, I think, that the spectrum (the way I learned it, anyways) features seven colors. One for every day of the week!

I seem to recall reading and/or hearing that indigo had been dropped since it was so similar to violet. But since I learned ROYGBIV back in grade school, by God that's what I'm going to use.

Dave

Day 238--Season's End

Alas, all good things, even base ball season, must end. For awhile, at least. Maybe I'll just go play winter ball somewhere for a few months.

Dave

Day 237--Smell the Flowers

Finally got to use my fish-eye for a wedding. Huzzah!

Day 236--Read to Me

You know why I like this picture?

Oh sure it's cute and all, but I like the fact that mom is listing ever so slightly to the side.

Day 235--Rainy Day

I like rainy days in fall.

Day 234--Barometers are falling sharply!

Today's quote is from....

This used to be grandma's, so I'm proud to have it hanging in my living room. Plus, it helps me figure out the weather inside, which is good to know.

Dave

Day 233--The Comfy Chair!

Abstract!

Dave

Day 232--The Hell?

What could have been a generic cloud picture is infinitely enhanced by that, um, thing. Your guess is as good as mine.

Dave

Day 231--Absence #7

The case looks so sad without its guitar nestled inside.

Day 230--Absence #6

Obviously I needed a tripod for this shot, so I went out for a walk, camera and tripod in hand, at about 10:30. At one point a police car passed me, and a minute or two later, the same car came back from the other direction, and slowed down. I figured the police man was trying to get a good look at what I was carrying. Then he gets my attention, and says, basically, what I was thinking, that he wanted to see what I was carrying, to "make sure it wasn't a machine gun."

I informed him it wasn't, and decided not to make a joke about a machine gun, just to be safe. So he motored on, and as I looked back, I saw stop at an intersection, and talk to another police car. So I had to wonder--had me seen me, got suspicious, and radioed for help? Or did the other car just happen to be there, and wanted to know what was going on?

Hmm...

Day 229--Absence #5

Sometimes a hand just needs another hand to hold.

Day 228--Absence #4

Vacant swings seem so wrong to me.

Dave

Day 227--Absence #3

Waiting for the show to start.

Day 226--Absence #2

I went to Father Dickson Cemetery today to get some pictures for a project at work, and it seemed like an apt subject for this particular theme. I especially like the way the headstone is crumbling (from an aesthetic approach, I mean. I feel sorry for whoever is buried there, if that makes sense).

Day 225--Absence #1

Right back with another theme week. This week's theme is 'absence,' which is something I messed around with once, but it was a long time ago. So I'm interested in trying it again. The basic idea is stolen from the (awesome) packaging of Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here. I don't think I'll come up with anything quite that amazing, but you never know.

Dave

Day 224--Light & Shadow pt.7

I could probably do an entire week of just playground equipment. It's that versatile!

Dave

Day 223--Light & Shadow pt. 6

I like this--multiple textures, reflections, and shapes.

Dave

Day 222--Light & Shadow pt. 5

I took a couple art courses back in my school days, and could never manage to draw fabric folds that looked convincing. I could shade basic shapes, but this kind of thing would have driven me insane.

Day 221--Light & Shadow pt. 4

The evening sun makes me look huge!

Dave

Day 220--Light & Shadow pt. 3

I almost used this very shot back when I was doing the alphabet--it would have been for the 'B' image. As it is, I think I like it better in this theme.
