Day 186--My Biggest Fan

Actually, it's probably no bigger than the fans in the two bedrooms. But don't tell it that. I'd hate to hurt it's feelings.

Day 185--Nice proboscis!

As is usually the case around these parts, I have no idea what kind of butterfly this is. But it was enjoying a snack in my front yard when I got home this evening, and was kind enough to stick around long enough for me to grab my macro lens and snap a few shots.

Day 184--Night Moves 3

True, It's a little blurry from me shaking the camera, but I love the way the bugs flying around cause those fun streaks. So it evens out, really.

Day 183--Ready to Strike

I'm cat-sitting for a friend of mine this week. This is Rufus, and, well, I think the picture speaks for itself.

Dave

Day 182--Are They Done Yet?

Waiting for pretzels to bake in the oven. It is, in fact, possible to get a pretty good portrait using nothing more than an oven light. Who knew?

Dave

Day 181--Caught in the Camera Eye

I love the way this sort of thing looks usually, but I'm not really thrilled with this picture. Mostly having those light reflected. But if I held it anywhere else, you couldn't see anything. Oh well.

Day 180--After the Storm

Maybe I should just make this a blog about clouds.

Day 179--Chucks

Most reliable pair of shoes I've ever owned.

Day 178--Camera--Hog

My camera demanded that it have its picture on this site.

So, um, there you go.

Day 177--Audrey

I've wanted a Venus Fly Trap for as long as I can remember. I used to ask grandpa all the time if he'd got one for me. Why it was his job, I don't know. The desire was renewed earlier this year, and I poked around a bit, but couldn't seem to find anyone who sold them.

Ah, but you can get them at MoBot. So now I have one. And it's pretty cool. What you can't tell here is that I just dropped a small bug in her mouth. Interestingly, there was no reaction. Inside the mouth, however, are some small....hair-like things. I gave one of those a nudge, and the mouth closed up pretty quick. So live bugs, I'm sure, are caught in a pinch.

Day 176--A River Runs Through It

I was at MoBot today, and finally got to use my neutral density filter to get that...blurry water look the people seem to like so much. It's not as intense as it could be, but I didn't have a tripod and had to improvise.

Day 175--One Thing, Seven Ways: Part 7

Body shot.

har har.

Day 174--One Thing, Seven Ways: Part 6

My old Strat had the jack for the cable on the side of the body. For some reason, I think it looks nicer having it inlaid in the body this way.

Day 173--One Thing, Seven Ways: Part 5

Considering how much attention I've lavished on this guitar lately, you think I'd be playing it more often. Not the case!

Day 172--One Thing, Seven Ways: Part 4

It's amazing how much dust accumulates around the pickups.

Day 171--One Thing, Seven Ways: Part 3

One of my issues with the non-American Fender Strats is that they only have 21 frets, where as the fancy American models have 22. Is it that hard to give us one more? Or is that why there's a $500 leap in price?

Day 170--One Thing, Seven Ways: Part 2

I've seen guitarists fiddle with the tone knobs during shows before, and for the life of me, I can never really tell much of a difference. But I suspect they can, so that's all that counts, right?

Day 169--One Thing, Seven Ways: Part 1

I've been kicking around this idea for awhile, probably since the end of Mystery Week. I've opted to focus (ha!) on one thing for the next seven days. In this case, it's my lovely Fender Stratocaster. So we'll see how many interesting ways I can shoot one guitar.

Dave

Day 168--Lovely Beverages

Not consumed back-to-back, if you were curious.

Dave

Day 167--That Was a Hoot!

I know this is a really lame picture, but I just want it to be known that if you go to DQ, you can, it would seem, get a cake with Rocko on it. Which is pretty much the best thing ever.

Day 165--Working Hard or Hardly Working?

I assure you that I took this picture after I did all the work in the basement.

Day 164--Yurtfolk

I could try and explain what's going on here, but I think it's one of those times when you just had to be there. It was pretty amusing, though.

Days 152-162: Big Sky Country and Odds & Sods

We had to, under orders from Florissant, repaint my shed a couple months ago. Some of the chipped paint is still floating around in my backyard.

These pipes at work look like they've been hit my hail. Your guess is as good as mine.

The train stopped in Chicago so I could pick up a connecting train to Glasgow, MT. I had enough time to grab lunch and be a tourist.

See, the sky in Montana really is big!

It's full of stars, too.

This is sort of a happy-accident picture. I was just panning along, shooting the hawk as it flew around (trying to keep me away from its nest, I think), and I saw this picture when I was reviewing images. Honestly, it might be my favorite picture from the whole trip.

Though I also really like this fence post. So maybe it's a toss-up.

Somewhere in North Dakota, I think. Once you get on the train long enough, places start to blur.

Chicago's Union Station. Makes the one here in St. Louis seem kinda lame. Though maybe if our was still an active hub, as opposed to a mall.

Citrus. Makes any meal that much better!

Chip's favorite toys, even if she continuously knocks them under my stove. I found 12 of them under there once. I just don't get cats sometimes.
